Short Programs

The UA&P School of Education and Human Development (SED) offers courses during the school year and accepts attendees on a non-degree credit or audit basis for the continuing education of practitioners and school administrators.

Some courses offered:

Organization and Management of Early Childhood Programs (December to February)

This course aims to provide students with a variety of opportunities to apply their knowledge in early childhood education, for the improvement of necessary systems and operations among existing early education programs. It includes discussions of the principles, processes, and practices involved in managing and organizing different early childhood education programs. The final output of this course is for the student to come up with a feasibility study of his or her own preschool.

School-based Management (December to February)

The course provides students an overview of school-based management, its objectives, its theoretical and practical bases, its dynamics and realities, and the role that educational leaders play in formulating, implementing, and assessing a school-based management program. These aspects and issues are studied using a framework that views a school both as an organization and as a community.

Lifespan Development Psychology/Child and Adolescent Development (February to March)

This course provides an overview of growth and total development across the lifespan from prenatal growth to late adulthood and focuses on core contemporary research findings and theories on the foundations and key dimensions of child and adolescent development. This combines theory with practice by integrating universal principles / theories of development with application to the cultural context of the Filipino family and school setting.

Work and Society (February to March)

A study of the worker and his social realities, this course seeks to develop an appreciation of man’s interaction, role and relevance as an employee or an employer in society with respect to its given institutions. An analysis of the person as a professional and its moral ramifications are to be discussed, along with a focus on ethical issues relevant to Information Technology.

Psychology of Teaching and Learning (April to May)

The course studies the different theories on how students can learn with increased effectiveness. It examines the role of psychology as applied to school and training situations. Students study the basic tenets of teaching, learning, and motivation, as well as individual differences and the interplay of nature and nurture in the teaching and learning relationships.

Applications to these courses should be submitted at least three weeks prior to commencement

  • Non-degree credit students are required to undergo the School’s admissions procedure (submit the necessary documents, take the Graduate Level Test, and go through the admissions interview).
