As children transition from childhood to adulthood, they experience the multi-faceted adjustments that come with being adolescents, physically, cognitively, and socio-emotionally. To be able to achieve the complex and critical tasks of this developmental stage, adolescents require the support and assistance of their ever-expanding network of relationships comprised of their parents and families, friends, and communities. More importantly, it calls for the appropriate guidance provided by their teachers and other members of the school community.
The Master of Arts in Education, major in Adolescent Development and Education Program equips educators of adolescents with the competencies to address the developmental and learning needs of adolescents in and out of the classroom. With a balanced curriculum focusing on four strands—pedagogy, psychology, technology, and values—educators of adolescents will learn how to appropriately utilize instructional and assessment approaches and practices to support adolescents in their formation and integral development.
The MA in Education, major in Adolescent Development and Education Program is designed for teachers of high school and early university levels (Grades 8 to 12 and Year 1 to 2).
Program Delivery
The program leads to a degree of Master of Arts in Education, major in Adolescent Development and Education (MAE-ADE) for thesis track, and Master in Education Major in Adolescent Development and Education for non-thesis track. Participants can complete the program in 2 years without having to give up or be released in their jobs.
